Six Word Stories
This is fun. The principle being, tell a story in six words. By far the best on the page is the initial example by Hemingway:
For sale: baby shoes, never worn
It’s great because you can imagine an entire story, and a moving one at that, from just those six words. I can imagine seeing a sorrowful looking man posting that card in his local newsagents.
I thought I’d have a try, for fun:
I knew. She knew. Pretending otherwise.
It doesn’t evoke any particular story, which Hemingway’s did, and that’s why his is masterful. I could have been more interesting with more words probably. Or maybe with a few more days thinking.
Now it’s your turn. Go on! Give it a go ![]()
